“Somewhere a Dragon Flys”
Begun in Sept of 2013 by a group of children attending the Beaver Brook Fall Art Festival, “Somewhere A Dragon Flies”, is a collaborative effort using the Stonedust technique by the children and myself. The children set the initial design and worked together to lay down the first layer of the painting. (See first photo below). I then provided a series of layers including the final layer (photo below). The glitter effect on the dragonfly’s wings was created with the “sparkle” of mica from granite stones. The original painting was auctioned at the 2014 Beaver Brook Fall Art Festival in Hollis, NH with the proceeds being used to promote environmental education programing for children.
